About Long Haired Chihuahua & Their ability to put every 1 under their spell

Long Haired Chihuahua: This is about our Long Haired Chihuahua  and a little bit about Us. Hi Folks, We are Carmen and Ed Taylor, living in Central Arizona and we’re breeding Long Haired Chihuahuas. It’s been a long road to get here, but it’s been a fun ride. We met in Germany, where Carmen’s home town is the home of the largest Wine Festival in the world, the Wurstmarkt. Ed’s home town in Idaho is the home of the National Oldtime Fiddlers Contest.  Neither event had anything to do with our meeting, falling in love, or marrying, combining our families.

The Big Move

Before coming to America, Carmen had never seen a Chihuahua. Especially a Long Haired Chihuahua. We moved from Germany to Olympia in  Washington state. Later we moved to Spokane, on the east, dryer side of Washington. This is where Carmen saw her very first Long Haired Chihuahua. We had a mini farm, with a couple of horses, several dogs, up to three cats at a time, and various ducks, chickens, goats, and pigs. Carmen started volunteering at an animal shelter, our menagerie not big enough for her heart for animals. We got our big guard dog, Juno, from the shelter when she was a tiny puppy.

Rescuing A Chihuahua

And then Carmen independently rescued a neglected Chihuahua (That needed Physical-Therapy due to how she was kept.) tiny, gnarled, malnourished, and desperate for love and affection. Carmen took her in, nourished her back to a good weight (still tiny, though), and got her exercised and socialized until she, Pi, looked, acted, felt like a regular member of our pack of dogs. Carmen fell in love with the breed. Tragically, Pi suffered fatal strokes in 2017. We were glad her last months were spent being happy and loved.

What Sets The Long Haired Chihuahuas Apart From Others

We had discovered that being small is not the only thing that sets the Long Haired  Chihuahua apart from other dogs. Other “toy” sized dogs act a lot like the larger members of their breed, with any genetic or behavioral defects bred in in the quest for smaller size. But Long Haired Chihuahuas have been small for centuries, there’s no need to breed them smaller. They were bred to be watchful, circumspect members of a human family unit. They act a lot more like humans than other dogs, most preferring human companionship. The Long Haired Chihuahuas love their humans and accept human love wholeheartedly.

Another Move With All My Animals Including the 2 Long Haired Chihuahuas

We moved to Arizona in late 2018. Carmen embarked on her mission to study and learn all about the Long Haired Chihuahuas, due to the fact that there are so many Chihuahuas with health broblems. We started really reading up on Chihuahuas; their history, their common ailments and afflictions, their behavior; and were surprised to find how many supposedly reputable breeders really didn’t know as much about the breed as we thought they should. So I (Carmen ) studied for the last 4 1/2 years the Long Haired Chihuahua breed and in March it will be a year that I have been going to school, learning even more details.

The Reason to Breed Long Haired Chihuahuas

The reason to breed the best, most beautiful and healthy Long Haired Chihuahuas is, so that other people could experience the joy of owning such a great little dog. We are determined that our puppies be as healthy as possible so nobody has to feel the pain of their dog’s ailments, and especially so the puppies themselves can live the fullest, happiest, healthiest lives possible, by using the knowledge and the tools to achieve what we have set out to do.  Here is 1 of the studies I’ve learned about on the Subject:

Our Breeding Line

We have contacted breeders all over America searching for the best, most beautiful, and genetically diverse stock we can get, focussing on Long Coat, with a secondary consideration of merle genes. They are all different in coloration, all beautiful, and all well behaved. They are genetically tested, socialized, and fed the best diet we can give them. It has taken a few years to get here, but we now have three young AKC mama dogs and an AKC stud, and can soon begin offering the finest Long Haired Chihuahua puppies available in America.
